New poster, basic plumbing knowledge.

The pilot light in my 7 year-old 50 gal gas water heater has gone out three times in the last ten days. We have been in this house just under a year and it only went out one other time last March. I have replaced the thermocouple on other units, but that seemed to be a single-shot failure (no repeated outage before failure). Is this something I might want to look into? The last owner paid for a 1 year warranty, which will be up next month, so should I have it check out soon? Will a problem be detectable if it is lit without problem on inspection?
Thanks all.
Phil

Welcome Phil. A 7 year old W/H is already getting long in the tooth (old), but you may get another year or two my replacing the thermocouple. I myself would pay the small deductable and hopefully they will replace the entire unit under the warranty, but it not, I'm certain they would at least replace the thermocouple.
