I recently moved into new construction with PEX. I have auto shut off timers on my hose bibs to help in watering the new lawn and they're causing some water hammer when they shut off. A crimp on water hammer arrestor is about $20 from the big box store. I am new to running PEX. Can I simply make my own arrestor like I would with copper? Put a T at the end of the line (going vertical) with 6" of PEX and a plug at the top? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but I am new to PEX work. I could spend $0 with this method or burn $80 on official arrestors. I just want to make sure I'm not asking for PEX to perform a task that isn't within it's specs.
Sorry if that has been discussed previously, but I can not find a decent way to search the forums.
