Overflow drain looks uneven.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get confirmation on whether or not this look right. I recently replaced the overflow drain gaskets on my bathtub, but the alignment of the pipe with the tub doesn't look right. I tried adjusting it further down, to sit flush with the opening of the tub, but it wouldn't budge. Does this look ok, or should i try making adjustments to the pipe?

That waste/overflow assembly is glued together, so there is no adjusting it without opening the wall behind it and cutting the overflow riser shorter.

It will PROBABLY be OK as is, I have seen them farther off than that and not leak. However, if I were to find that before the drywall went up, I would repair to be on the safe side.

It does seal. I've been fixing up the bathtub in the house I just bought (tons of sediment buildup on everything.) When I went to replace the faceplate, I noticed the old gasket was I'm poor shape. So poor that I could see a gap into the wall behind the tub. I replaced the gasket with one of the danco branded ones I found at home depot. It does appear to have a secure seal around the entire pipe, I was just worried about that lower lip portion being so high up. Last thing I want is water spilling over into the wall and ceiling below. I installed the new gasket as is, so no lubricant or anything like that on it.
