I've read a lot about these new tank-less water heaters, but I still can't tell if it is worth the investment to get one of them. Anyone here gone "tank-less" with their water heater? Any feedback?

Well I've put in tankless units for customers and stuff and they definitely like them. But I'd highly recommend a water softener if you water is even slightly hard. If you don't you're gonna need it flushed yearly at best. Up front cost is more, and even with a softener its a good idea to get them flushed every few years. I don't feel they really save you any money in the long run by time you take into account maintenance, and if it breaks down parts can be pricy. Hot water tanks are simple and cost effective but depends what you want really. I personally wouldnt put one in my home. There's always the power vented water heaters, with higher recovery rates so it's better than conventional without the maintenance of a tankless, but that's just my thoughts.

I have a TWH installed at my house and love it. The only downfall is you lose the reserve 40-50 gallons of water in the event of an emergency.
