No Hot Water

No Hot water and tank has Power connected, and the breakers are closed and I hit the reset. What and how do I trouble shoot this basic problem? I know enough just to be dangerous and don't want to make aminor problem a major problem

The two most likely issues are that your thermostat has been turned down (possible if someone bumped it) or that the heating element is shot.
