I have an unidentifiable tub faucet that dripped. It has a separate round handle for hot and cold that you twist to turn the water on. I replaced the seats and springs which fixed the leaking but.... The new problem now is if I turn the hot water dial more than halfway open I can't turn it back off. It's as if it's hanging up on something. The only solution is to turn the house main off and then I can turn the dial to the closed position again. I took it apart multiple times and nothing looks different than the cold water side. I'm stumped.

take it apart, pop a couple pictures, post them here.
Maybe , just maybe, we can help.

Need more information

You have a "unidentifiable" faucet that you installed new seats and springs in? If you can not identify the faucet, how did you buy parts? Faucet parts are NOT interchangeable, you have to use the correct parts. Seems you have not correctly installed the correct parts for your faucet.
