Hi - nice to meet everyone. Just bought a home built in 1948. Have a feeling I'll be getting to know everyone on this forum as I get to understanding plumbing and this home! Bought from a guy flipping the home, person before it was a little old lady who lived here 50 years. I have a feeling there was some neglect from both parties when it came to the plumbing.
Gas boiler was replaced and brand new, which is great. Works beautifully. Same with the hot water heater if that plays into it. However the radiators (convector radiators, wall recessed) appear to be original and are giving me some issues. Everything on the main floor works perfectly (a little clanky but I haven't bled yet), but upstairs it's very touch and go. Out of my 5 radiators up there, one of them works fine, 1 works so-so, 2 don't work at all and 1 (my master bedroom) was working for a few days but hasn't been lately. I've been playing with the on/off valves at the bottom...makes no difference.
I obviously don't expect a diagnosis from such a vague post, but any ideas on where to even start would be greatly appreciated! Is there any other context I can provide which will help?
