My house is from 1912. A bathroom has separate tub and shower controls. The shower has hot and cold that go to a mixer in between them. There is an elbow on each side of the mixer for the water. Each elbow has these original washers I need to replace. They've crumpled away. Any idea where I can source new ones? My local place could help.

I assume you meant that your local place "couldn't" help.

Take those pieces to another "local" place. A good neighborhood hardware store in the Chicago area will have washers that will work.

Yes, I mis typed. Not in Chicago tho, in Ohio now. Went to my local Ace Hardware and they had nothing for me. I'm contemplating cutting my own

Yes. the Ace near me is pretty worthless. But the True Value a little farther away from me has about everything. As it is more than 160 years old, they should, LOL.

You can cut them, but it would be best to use a gasket cutter or the appropriately sized hole punch to be sure they are truly round. If you don't have any of those tools, using an Exacto knife and a steel washer of the correct size can be of help.
