So here is my basement currently where the drain is coming down from my current 1st floor bathroom. Can I tap into that and put some sort of stand pipe drain for use. I want to put my laundry room in basement. That drain makes. 90 degree turn about 30 inches from the ground. Or do I need to tap into the vertical drain that goes underground?

You will have to tap into the pipe at a lower elevantion. So Yeah closer to where it goes into the ground.

You will have to install a vent after the trap as well

ok thanks. Also what kind of vent does it need? I believe the closest place to go in elevation is where the main drain actually goes into the basement floor,so could I put a T right into that?

So I found where the pipe exits the house. So how exactly do I go about tapping into the main drain line and keeping it code? The center of the plug is 26-1/2" from the floor... For some reason when I uploaded the pic it is sideways.

read this on another site also

NoRMALLY this would not work, BUT, you said the manufacture said your pump will pump up 96''

remove the plug, install a male adapter, then install a 3x2 wye in the horizontal position, then install a ftg x fip adapter,
put the plug you took out back in.

on the wye, install a ftg x hub 45 degree then 3'' of pipe, then a 2'' tee , on top of the tee, install a 24'' long pipe
on the other end install 3'' of pipe and a 2'' ptrap with a 21'' long standpipe
on top of the 24'' pipe, install a AAV

Wow thanks I will give this a try. Only question I have is with the wye and adapter In the diagram it looks like the adapter and wye are point downwards and not coming straight out. Will the adapter just be a straight adapter or will it be pointing downwards? Also the wye has 3 outlets in it. Obviously out the 3" on the adapter and will both of the other ends be 2" and recap the 2"that is angling down at the 45, and run the rest of the drain in the 2" going out horizontal?
