Need help understanding shower control valves

Hello, Im new here. I have gutted out my bathroom and looking at shower and bathtub fixtures. I dont know all the proper terminolgy, but for the tub, im putting in a wall mount 2 handle mixer valve. I think im all set as far as that goes. The shower is a walk in stall type that will be all tiled. Im having a hard time figuring out what style mixer/ rough in valve to use. Im shying away from the pressure/temp control valves because it seems like too much can go wrong, not familar with these at all. I initally was leaning towards a 2 handle mixer same as bath, i realize this may not be code but dont care. I cant find a single handle mixer with out temp control. I was also looking at kohler brands, but am open to suggestions on brands. Any input is appreciated

I would go with the Delta 13 series. There easy to repair if the need ever arises. There warranted for life. If any part or the finish ever fails Delta will send you what is needed free of charge. Been using these faucets for over thirty years.
