I read some posts on removing this, some said to use a 2.5mm, 2mm, or 3mm Allen wrench. I tried 2.5mm which was too big, then I tried 2mm which was too small. Another post said to use a 2.2mm or 7/64 and I just want to ask this community before going out to buy more wrenches.

If anyone could help that would be greatly appreciated

It’s a 3/32” Allen wrench.

They’re easy to strip. If it strips you’ll need a new handle. They cost $20.

If the screw strips I usually break the handle and stem off and replace both the cartridge and handle.

There are two possible cartridges available depending when your rough valve was manufactured determines which 1400 series cartridge you would need.

If your rough valve was purchased when the trim was purchased you’ll need the gray colored cartridge.

Looks already stripped to me when I zoom in on your pic.

You might could use a small screw extractor of some sort. But usually for the sake of time, I just have all my parts on hand then just break the handle off.

How do I break the handle?
Thanks for replying

Rock it back and forth. But controlled, don’t go wild. It does require a little force sometimes. You’re breaking off a brass stem….

Before you attempt anything be sure you can turn all the water off if things go bad.

Also, can you link me the cartridge I would need?

It says series Delta Series 1400 Monitor on the trim.

When was the valve purchased ? There are two possible cartridges depending on the age of the valve.

Valves made April 2006 and prior use the blue replacement and after it uses a gray cartridge. The lower half of the gray cartridge is longer.

If the valve was purchased with the trim you show, it’ll take the gray cartridge.
