Need help attaching Dishwasher hose to Garbage Disposal

The attachment I bought to connect the dishwasher hose to the garbage disposal doesn't fit the hose. So I cut it and now the hose will slip in, but even if I tighten it as much as possible, the hose slips out very easily. Is there anything else I can use to attach the hose to the disposal?

you need a short piece of 1/2'' copper pipe, 2 or 3 inch long. to keep the pipe from crushing

A barbed connector/adapter will help prevent a possible hose blowout.
