Hi Guys
Im after a second opinion here.
My Elson hot water tank is leaking so I wanted to get a new smaller one' 135 litres, and put it in my loft which would be obout 8 feet above where it is at the moment.
I was goung to extend/replace the pipes and electrics to the new tank.
I asked a guy in a plumbing shop if he could supply an equivalent tank and straight away that he didnt have one in stock I said could you order one and he replied it could be 14 days. when he saw I was OK with that he added if your lucky.
I explained what I wanted to do and he said you cant extend the pipes you have to start from scratch. Then he said you could blow yourself up if you do it wrong.
I thought It wasnt a presureised tank I replied then he said I wouldnt sell you a tank if you were going to do the work.
I would like another opinion. maybe this guy didnt like me or didnt want the hastle of getting a tank for me (he actually put his hands on his head when I asked him I could wait 14 days for the tank.) Or what he told me was right.
Cheers

Not to familiar with that since i am on the other side of the pond. I can only tell you any time you heat water you get pressure. I believe you guys like your tea, think of the tea pot. Might be in your best interest to get someone in with knowledge and let them guide you. Good luck

Putting the water heater in an overhead area is always an invitation for a flood or other disaster.

Its already on the second floor so 8 ft higher in the loft isnt much different.
I would guess that most water tanks are on not on the ground floor. Not in the UK anyway.

A water TANK being upstairs makes sense, to improve water pressure to fixtures and faucets.

A water HEATER is eventually going to leak, sometimes suddenly and with high volume.

You should install a catch pan and drain line for the new heater, wherever it ends up being installed.
It can save thousands in repair costs to floors, carpeting, mold remediation, etc.
