Moen 7590 Aberdeen cartridge install

Quick question on A sunday since Moen support isn't open.

I have a new cartridge for a moen 7590 faucet that I need to install, and I can't get the old one out.

I have removed the cover and lever and pulled the retainer clip above the cartridge, thinking it would just pull out, but it doesn't seem to want to.

Do I need to apply more force? or am I missing asecondary clip or twist of the cartridge before pulling? The case of the new cartridge doesn't hint at a twisting motion.

There is a tool that's made to pull stubborn cartridges.
http://reviews.lowes.com/0534/1085199/reviews.htm Just be sure you get the correct one. They make two. You DON'T want the one made for there balance pressure cartridge.
