lwco blowdown

Hi all, I'm Jay. Just moved into my house and tried to flush the low water cutoff on my steam boiler... Site glass shows half full, yet nothing drains when I open the ball valve on the blowdown. Boiler is 20 yrs old but working fine. Am I missing something?

is your make up water valve open? you are letting water out to clean your pipes, and your make up is letting water in to compensate for the water you are letting out is that clear as mud?

If the make up valve is the one to fill the site glass, then no, it isn't. After o.p. I thought that had something to do with it and tried again w/ it open, but no luck... Glass filled up and still no blowout.

start with the blow down /drain pipe. and take it apart. depending on when it was used last..probably full of junk
