took off the hose bib, put it back on, now i have a leak coming out of the base of the skirt where it attaches to the wall. i was careful and used a pipe wrench and spanner, but i seem to have caused a problem... any advice?

opened up the wall, looks like the galvanized pipe right before the copper elbow is super corroded. based on the moisture and rot around the area, i think it may have been a subtle leak for a while, and my tinkering with the hose bib cracked the corrosion open even more.

Yup, the layer of plaster corroded the galvanized where it made contact with it. Concrete type materials against steel pipe is never a good idea.
