Hello,
I live in a one level aparment. We moved in one month ago and at the time noticed whenever we ran hot water or the neighbors did, we would hear a tapping or knocking noise from the pipes and hot water tank. It was no big deal because it only happened every so often. However, over the last day or so, it sounds like someone's water is constantly running or a toilet is running 24/7. There is a constant ticking and knocking in the pipes and water heater. It's getting aggravating because the knocking can wake you up in the middle of the night. I'm hesitant to contact the maintenance staff at this point right now because a friend who lives in the same complex had a plumbing problem and maintenance took a course of one month to fix it and he was unable to use his shower. Any suggestions or thoughts?

Not knowing anything about the plumbing in your apartment, I would definitely reccomend contacting management. It is possible that there is a leak in the hot piping under the floor of the apartment. If so, the leak will cost you money on both your water and utility bill until it is fixed.

If maintenance doesn't take care of it in a timely manner, complain to management.
