Picture is of our kitchen sink, a DIY job my dad did a while back. The sink gets clogged more than we'd like and I told him it is probably because of the way his pipes are done. He argues that I have no idea what I'm talking about because I'm not a plumber.

The pipe that leads out (towards main pipes I guess? away from the sink) is actually inclined--it is higher than the Y pipe that connects the other side of the sink...

Anyhow, I was hoping for some input. Would this pipe setup become a problem or is it okay to leave it this way?

Thanks everyone in advance for any advice you can give me.

Master Po,

Having the DW exhaust @ the Y ( ) cause the GD discharge to possibly back-up into the other bowl? Couldn't he just raise the T to allow for proper slope for the trap arm?

Nice looking install but he forgot OFFICIAL PLUMBER'S RULE # 2

Kultuls I though that was plumbing rule #1 **** flows down hill, and rule # 2 payday is on Friday!!

if he simply raised the tee, as you suggest, what would you do with the drain from the GD ?

does it drain into the top of that tee?

i do not see a dishwasher, if i did, i would drain it into the disposal before a cat could like its a$$

Thanks for the responses everyone. You guys have a good sense of humor =). I tried to take a better picture... also there's a wall socket being used in the back there too. Just noticed that today and probably not a good idea.

The advice to just do a straight pipe to the left sounds like a good idea. Ill probably suggest that to my dad. Thanks again!

Tell your dad he does nice work (IMO).

I hate the look of PP or PVC/ABS under a sink. Chrome plated brass/copper is the way to go...

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ADDENDUM (Fr)-

If he shortens (or buys shorter) extension under the tee to raise the trap might be an easier route.

What do you think frodo...
