I have noticed that I have had some leaks lately (water softener, toilets, now washer), so I bought a rainbird pressure gauge to test my water.
Where my house water comes in, I have a pressure regulator, so I thought I'd start there. When I test the water pressure there, it comes back between 120 and 140. When I put the pressure gauge on a hose bib at the back of the house and on a utility sink inside my garage, I get similar readings.
I adjusted the pressure regulator to lower the pressure, but even after that, I still get the same readings.
The only thing I didn't do was to take a reading where the washer is on the 2nd floor, but I didn't want to move it out because I wasn't ready to repair it.
Is this enough information to assume that my pressure regulator is shot and that I need a new one? My house (and regulator) are about 12 years old.
thanks,
John
