I have a Buderus ST150/2 off my gas boiler. I came home today and found about 10+ gallons of water on the floor and the PRV was still leaking. I shut off the supply to the heater and shut off the boiler.

I turned it back on about 30 minutes later and within 10 minutes it started leaking again pretty good from the relief valve.

I suspect it's either the thermostat or the pressure relief tank gone bad... Anyone with experience have any thoughts? I feel like it may be too much water to be the Pressure Relief Tank, but thats a cheap solution to try!

replace the relief valve, relief valves do go bad
if it leaked just a little. trash could have gotten in the seat
and now it will not shut off. i have stopped them from leaking before by a sharp rap of my plyers on the valve body.

a sharp rap, not a all out assault !!!

well I pulled out the relief valve and tank - the tank was definitely bad, completely filled with water.

The valve had a lot of rust and gunk on it as well so while I had it out and was heading to the supply store I changed it out as well.

All done, back in business with no leaks.
