Wondering if the pros could offer some advice. I have a well, large rain storage barrels and home water filtration system. Ideally I would like to use my home filtration system to clean the rainwater and use that as a primary home source and use the well as a backup only when barrels are low.

How would you recommend accomplishing this?

My guess is that the rainwater and well have to tie together before the water filtration system. At this point some type of controller or specialized fitting will "choose" the rainwater as a primary source and well as a backup.

Is there any way for this to be automated or is a manual "switch" the only option?

I also need some advice on how strong of a pump I should use to pull the water from the barrels.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
