I want to cut off a portion of galvanized steel with a hack saw and tie in copper pipe, so there will not be any threads to screw onto.

I know you need a dielectric separation, but on the galvanized steel portion it seems they are all threaded.

If its underground you can use a ford coupler, if its above ground in your house, you could use a compression coupling, but I would look for a threaded connection and make it there.

It's underground but it's in a basement so no dirt or anything will be on the pipe. Since I need electrical separation, would I just use a PVC coupling or something?
