I am installing a new Arrowhead Brass products hose bib to replace my old ABP broken hose bib. When I removed my old hose bib, it has a 1/2" close nipple that connects the hose bib to the internal pipe in the wall.
My new hose bib did not come with this nipple, so I went down to the local hardware store and purchased a regular 1/2" npt close nipple. It threaded into the end of the hose bib, but not very far. I was told by someone that worked at the store that it would engage even more during the installation.
Anyway, I tried to thread the new hose bib into the internal pipe, and it will not engage. I tried the old hose bib and it threaded right in. So, I am assuming that I have the wrong threaded nipple. [I attempted to remove the old nipple and it will not come out with out damaging the thread.]
Does anyone know what type of thread that Arrowhead Brass products uses as their 1/2" FIP connection. It almost appears to be a straight, not tapered thread. My ABP part number is 4658bcld.
I have attached a picture of the end of my old hose bib as reference.
Thanks
