Holes through LVL's?

In the interest of tucking the drains up in the joists to make for basement clearance I would need to hole saw a single 2" through a Double 9 3/4" LVL at center. Does anyone know if that is acceptable for structural? Thanks

you cant bring another stack up to avoid cutting a hole?

generally, the first course of action is to plan the routing to miss joists.

some times, that means 2 pipes instead of one. can you bring up a 2nd stack?

I would not drill it unless and until the structural engineer who designed it hands me a letter saying where and how big of a hole I can safely drill through it.

what we do...is look at the structural drawings for the 2nd floor when we rough in. the first floor

to see where those are, and which way joists run. if you dont, you can get blocked

we decide to bring pipes up to be run with the joists, not against
