I have started a bathroom reno and when I pulled the old shower out, the wye (tee?) where it connects to the vent stack broke. It's an 1-1/2" drain from the shower to a 4" vent stack. So I effectively have a 1-1/2" hole in my vent stack right now with a rag stuffed in it until I can come up with a solution.
I'm replacing the shower with a bathtub which will drain through another pipe, so there will be no pressure where the hole is and I would prefer to fix/patch it, rather than cut it out and replace the whole thing, because it is going to be extremely hard to get in there to work.
Is there a product or method for fixing the hole that will safely keep the fumes out of the house?
Thanks for your help.
