use 2 pair of plyers or wrench's put one one the white nut

the other on thr grey nut

turn the grey nut to the left..or twards your tub


be sure to flush toilet first.

Is it ok to replace a compression flange with a different one???

no, if you have a compression flange,and it is not attached to the floor [bolted]
that is the reason your terlet is rock'n

the flange heeds to be bolted/ or you need a flange that glues on, if the pipe coming thru floor is secure
