Greetings...

I'm trying to help out a friend by fixing some older American Standard fixtures in his house. His Galleria (#2014) toilet posed a few problems, since a store bought flush valve wouldn't fit. But a little creative engineering shortening the valve, and I got it working perfectly.

His matching bidet is a different story! It seems that the vacuum breaker valve isn't sealing when the water is turned on, resulting in the spray coming out of the top of the valve, instead of out of the sprayer in the basin. I disassembled the valve, trying to determine the cause of the problem and discovered that the red washer was a) dry rotted, and b) split, c) the o-ring was dry rotted, and d) the entire assembly was caked in calcium/minerals/etc.

A call to American Standard was more frustrating than helpful. They claim that they only make the porcelain, and that 'any' bidet faucet could be installed on my friends bidet. They then went on to tell me that regardless, the bidet is discontinued so they can't help me.

I started searching online and found an American Standard M961107-0020A vacuum breaker repair kit on Amazon. The picture looked EXACTLY like what I needed, so I ordered one. When it arrived, I discovered that it IS exactly like what I need...except...it's larger than the original!

I've called a few online parts houses and have come up empty.

Here are some pictures that hopefully help:

And finally, the new/wrong valve on the left, the original valve on the right

I'm hoping someone on here might be able to point me to a supplier for the part I need. Even a part number would be helpful...

Thanks in advance for any help you folks can give me!

I have a 20 year old bidet that is leaking from the vacuum breaker as well. The breaker post is almost 3 inches in diameter so perhaps the parts you purchased will fit my bidet. Want to sell them?

I do not know how to disassemble the breaker itself. Does the top unscrew? If I can get it apart then we can compare the parts. Thanks.
