Hard piped kitchen faucet. help needed!

i am not sure what to do. I bought a new faucet for my quirky old house, trying to not make it be so ugly but i ran into a snag. From all the diy online videos show 2 lines under the sink with knobs on them and hose that leads up to the faucet....not me, heres what i got

I would advise that you cut off that valve, and in place of it install a reguar stop. From the stop you should use a flexible supply line, as stated above. Stainless steel braid lines and compression stops are sold at just about any hardware store, and are very easy to install.
As for that steel pipe, you can unscrew that union and find a threaded stop to go in place But id probally exstend it with a peice of copper with a compression stop on the end of it. For the sake of bringing it to the same hight of the other one.
