Garbage disposal disassembly

I'm trying to disassemble my GE garbage disposal model GFC530F. I've run into a problem where the aluminum mount ring is being difficult to unlock. I don't know if i need to do anything specific to unlock it, or just keep trying to twist it off. I should also mention that the sink flange has separated from the sink so i have nothing to help me with leverage. Any suggestions?

I was able to finally get it apart and cleaned up, but it is also leaking from the bottom. I'm hoping i can just tighten up some screws or something easy, but i doubt it'll be so simple.

There now seems to be a slow leak in the unit. The water is exiting from the bottom casing, but when I opened the unit up I couldn't find where it was leaking from. Is it possible that there is a leak somewhere in the motor area?

If the disposal leaks, it is shot, done, kaput, worn out. Time for a new disposal. They are not repairable.
