Freeze proofing water valve box

Had a plumber install a shutoff valve for our home this summer. as shown in the pic, PVC with a plastic enclosure around it. I'm in north Florida...not exactly brutal winters, but we do get 5-6 hard freezes every winter. I can get the foam pipe insulation in there but I wonder about protecting the valve part. ideas, advice welcomed!

Unfortunately, those PVC valves will get brittle in a couple of years whether you have freezing weather or not, making that valve useless. I'd recommend installing a brass ball valve as soon as possible.
