I am attempting to install a new Sillock Freeze Proof Faucet. I am going from 1/2" CPVC female brass coupler to a 1/2" male threading on the faucet. Seems easy right?

I have created the connection 3 times now, twice with pipe dope and another with teflon tape. All 3 times the connection leaked. It leaks in the same place on the left side and is a quick drip.

I am a DIYer but have done a fair amount of my own small plumbing projects and have never had this issue before, especially when using pipe dope. Could the threads be improperly manufactured? Am I missing something, like a washer possibly? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you may have a bad fitting or frost proof. Before chucking the frost proof try using a different female. Also try using teflon tape and add the pipe dope over it.

Thanks. I will run out and buy a new one of each and return what I don't need. Keep you posted. I like the suggestion of both teflon and pipe dope...I will start having to use that trick everywhere.
