First post so sorry if I miss something important!

Recently the hot water has stopped working. The timer still comes on but the boiler doesn't kick in. I had a fiddle and if I turn the central heating on and then off the hot water starts (nothing happens with both on, equally this happens the other way around too)! I had a bit of a read about the issue online and though it was a problem with the mid position actuator (MA1) so I swapped it out for a new one but have the same problem.

The actuator is unlocked in the M position.

What should be my next steps?

When you researched it online what did you research?
It would be helpful if we knew what type of system you're talking about.

It is a Y-plan heating system with a 3 port valve, 2 thermostats (hot water and room) and a standard programmer.

2 get the HW on i turn on the adv HW then turn the CH on and then off and the HW starts. If I do this the other way around the CH starts.

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

I'm guessing by the video I just watch that this a common system in the UK.
Not familiar with them.
If I was sitting in front of it I could probably figure it out.
Sorry, I can't help you.:(

Yes it is fairly standard in the UK.thanks for your time though. May just have to call in the heavies.

I fixed it today. Thought I would update to let anyone know who has the same problem and can save them time.

It was a faulty programmer. Replaced it with a new one and all is well. I was thrown off by it still sort of working and the timer etc coming on. £50 for a new one problem solved!
