We're purchasing a 1941 cape cod. Any idea what this pit is for? It's just to the west of the sump pit for the interior drainage system. The pits are not connected. It's covered with a clear plastic lid (bolted) and foamy water can be seen inside. What do you think it's servicing? Does it need to be vented more properly? see pic. Thanks!

On septic?
Maybe one it sewage and the other is gray water.
maybe gray water is recycled to irrigate something.
