Have spent the better part of today trying to remove the handles from my two-handled sink faucet. The handles are white porcelain with cross design and below is a bulbous chrome piece. There is no screw under the decorative cap on the handles, no place for an allen wrench anywhere under the bulb or on the handles. Does anyone have any idea how I can get these handles off to repair a leak? My friend says these are "throw away" faucets, never meant to be repaired and to just get a new one. I'm stubborn enough to try to figure this out! They were put in around 10 years or so ago by a plumber who redid our bathroom, but I have no idea the brand nor do I have a manual of any kind.

All help appreciated!
