Hello Everyone,

A couple of days ago I noticed that our water was not heating up as it was before. Yesterday we did not have hot water at all. I went to our Rheem
42V50-40F heater and looking at the pool of water below it and corrosion on the top I assumed that it is not worth fixing it at this point - too much damage. Honestly, it was an assumption based on how corroded some parts were, nothing else.

I never maintained it since buying a house (yes, you can start throwing rotten tomatoes at me ;)) The sticker says 2004, so I am assuming it was the original heater for the house.

What do you think? Should I ask a certified plumber to look at it or I should be getting quotes for new heater installation?

Thank you for your input.

hey Snapple, !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yep,,,get a new one. water stains around the burner..

do you have any idea how easy it is to switch out a WH?

turn off, drain, disconnect, pull out, put in new

hok up vent , water gas

your water and gas lines are flex connectors
the vent lifts off and sets back

I mean.......easy..real easy.

Ahhh, my DH does not want to replace our WH and I cannot do it myself. I know that it is a relatively easy task, but it looks like I will have to pay someone. Thank you for your opinion, Frodo, saved me $$ on a service call. I will start researching new water heaters. Thanks again!
