I installed a new sink a month ago. From the day I finished the install, the sink has drained slowly. Now, it is at the point of being clogged.

The sink is the only slow/clogged drain in the house. I just had the septic tank pumped and all toilets and tubs drain fine. I climbed on the roof and shot water down the vent pipes thinking they might be clogged. I have plunged the crap outta the sink now and that does not seem to phase the current clog. When it had clogged before, I poured a bottle of Draino down it and it worked for a few minutes and then clogged right back up. Added another bottle of Draino and then it worked for a bit longer but then ended up backing up again. I have not snaked the drain yet but I guess that is my next step depending on the advice I get here.

Is this all because I messed something up on the sink drain install or is there something else at play? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I would not have plumbed it that way but I see nothing that should cause slow draining from the start. You have a clog downstream. Clear the clog.

Throw that damn Draino away. Jesus Jesus Jesus I don't know why people buy that junk. You just made the problem 10x harder for someone to properly clear the build up in the pipes.

But thanks for telling us ahead of time. My price to clear the clog just went way up due to the very hazardous nature of the caustic/toxic mixture in the pipes.

Draino is a "no go" huh?

Well I went and bought a 25' snake and after the second time running it through the pipe it broke free and I have not had a problem since. I guess it was just bad timing with the install of the new sink.

Thanks for the help, at least now I know my plumbing was not the problem.
