i replaced a delta faucet cartridge for both cold and hot. when i close all the way, water is still dripping from water outlet on hot side(where water comes out when you turn it on). but when move the handle a little toward open, water no longer drips. is there a specific cartridge for hot or cold? cold side works perfect. it's only the hot side. so i can close all the way, just need to close it 95%. any idea?

Make sure your handle isn’t worn allowing the stem to over rotate.

If you didn’t use factory parts, replace with genuine Delta parts.

Make sure the large end of the spring is inserted into the faucet first then the rubber seat cups over it.

Post pics for me to confirm but the typical Delta two handle tub/shower faucet uses the same stem for hot and cold and depending on how it’s installed in the valve determines which direction the handle rotated to open/close.

Yeah it may not be seated correctly or in a clean and silicone greased hole. I have an old house and my brother who I help does to and what I've noticed is when I replace cartridges for old shower or tub valves, I have to take the time to clean out where the cartridge goes back in and I use extra silicone grease to make sure the o-rings slide in without any burr damage.

And Twowaxhack is so correctly about using OEM cartridges. When I first bought my old house, I tried grabbing an after market cartridge from Ace and it leaked right off the bat. Ever since I purchase OEM catridges, and it's the correct one, and I take the time to gently clean the opening and use extra silicone grease.... I've never had a leak ever since and I've replaced like 7 in a row like that between my house, my brother's two houses, and my parents condo and their house. (I like to help with plumbing projects and we live in the same area).

here you go guys, i uploaded the video of its symptom. as you see, left one(cold) has no issue. only the right one(hot).

ironically, it's the OEM that's doing this, other one is off brand one, but works fine.. both brand new.

Make sure the handle is installed onto the stem properly. The stem is D shaped and so is the handle where it slips onto the stem.

Orientate the flat side of the stem away from the spout. The handle should slip right down over it completely.

Remove that handle and take a pic of the stem for me with the water off. Get me a pic from about a two feet away. Include the spout so I can tell the orientation of the stem to the spout.

The stems should be RP25513, they come with an adjustable stop you can add. like @Twowaxhack said the handle couple be worn also.

thanks a lot guys, after reviewing you guys suggestion.. indeed I noticed handle inside(stopper?) was partially broken/damaged. i think it happened when i yanked them out with a screw driver as they were pretty stubborn to get them loose... what a pain it was... Never thought those build up carbon can create that strong of bonding...
