My current electric heater just has a 30 amp romex leading to the hookup.
My new tank is going to need this extended. So, I'll need to put in a junction box, and then extend out and over the side to the new connection.
do I need to use some type of flex conduit here ? Or just run the wire ?
It would seem like I need to put some type of conduit from the junction box to the heater connection.

Install a disconnect switch instead of junction box. You could use some liquid tite flex. Google it.

Mine is in the master bedroom closet and I have just romex running to the heater with a wire restraint at the heater connection.
I used a 240v light switch instead of a pullout disconnect.

My current is similar, but the circuit breaker box is close, so don't really need the switch. But the new one has the darned electrical on the front instead of the top, I guess I could put an elbow connector and still just run the flat romex.
