I just installed a new water heater in my home. I upgreaded from a
conventional 40 gal unit to a conventional 50 gal. Now when we take a shower, we will get short shots of cooler water then back to the normal temp. This will happen about 3-4 times per shower. It almost feels like some one has turned on a faucet in the house, but no one is. This never happened before with the old unit. Does anyone have an idea as to what is going on?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have no idea, but I had that with my old water heater. It was incredibly annoying. I hope that someone can answer this, because I would like to know what causes that nuisance.

My wife took a shower in an another shower with no water temperature change. It still happened in the first shower for me this morning. Im starting to wonder if I need to chane the shower valve?

What type/brand shower valve do you have ? The valve may need a cartridge or a balancing spool replacement. There is the possibility that some debris broke free when changing the water heater and made it to the hot side of the valve creating a intermittent partial hot water blockage.

I have no idea what valve is there. It's buried inside the wall with no access panel. I was also thinking, could there be some air in the lines? I opened all facets for a bit. We will see if that helps?!?
