I hear water running through the down pipe of this valve. Is it a check valve? Do I need to replace it with another check valve or can I just by-pass it?

Thanks in advance.

See those big bold letters that say "trap primer"? That's what it is.

Look over the unit for a make/model and you should have an easy replacement with the union set up.

Thanks and Duh! I should've seen that. It's obvious in the picture. Not so obvious in the area it's located due to bad lighting, my eyesight going and refusal to wear glasses and it's been hit many times with a hammer and the letters are getting a smashed up. So from what I've just read online, it's necessary to keep water in the floor trap. Got it.
