I have just moved into a new flat which i love. The bath is a Bette with a Hansgrohe tap. the first few times I used it, I twisted the handle and the stopper moved. Now which ever way I twist it, it wont budge, and so I can't have a bath and bath water remains in the tub! I can't remember whether it went clockwise or anticlockwise - I am rotating the handle firmly but not with too much force as I cant remember whether it went clockwise or anticlockwise. Help!

That waste/overflow is operated by a cable. When you twist the handle, a little arm pushes up on your "drain stopper" to release the water. Like many of them do, it has probably failed. I personally have never saw one last more than a few years.

You will have to try and manually pull it up to release water.
