Hello plumbing enthusiasts!

I'm adding a triple sink to my tiny cafe. I want to move this hot water heater, but it feels like this brassy metal tubing is preminently installed.

Once I figure out how to move it, I will want reinstall it.

Please, tell me, what I'm even looking at?

That's a pressure temperature relief valve with a copper discharge tube.
Moving the water heater shouldn't be that hard just extend the piping to match where you're going to put it.

Thank you for your reply!

I've never used a forum before, this is incredibly helpful. :)

Right now I'm trying to remove the copper discharge tube from the hot water heater, so that I can get everything rearranged. But it seems like the threaded connections are fused together with putty (see blue circles in photo).

Do I just need to get some double wrench action in there and really yank on it? Is there a solvent that will loosen the putty?

I just realized the copper pipe is being held in by a SharkBite fitting they sell a piece that you can push up against the fitting and pull the copper pipe out while leaving the fitting still attached to the relief valve if your intention is just to remove the pipe
