Best way to mark main water line

What are the different or best ways to properly mark a water line running from the meter to the house so that when it is dug up, it is clear it is the main line, not an irrigation line? Plumbers in Florida often "Y" off the water meter and run separate lines for the main and the irrigation for water pressure purposes. Before I bury the lines, I want to mark them so that if they are dug up again, it is clear which is which. Suggestions?

Use the purple irrigation pipe that is intended for use in reclaimed water irrigation on the irrigation line. I have seen this done before, and that way, if reclaimed is ever available in your area, you are already set up for it.
