We have a sink with the pull-push type stopper mechanism. The sink will stop up, but when you push the rod to OPEN the drain, it does not send stopper high enough to properly drain water at a rapid pace, and drains slowly - yet you can pull up on the stopper with your fingers and water rushes out. I have adjusted the setting on the push rod (seems to me the longest position should work best, right?), but to no avail.
Any suggestion?

Some of the higher end stoppers have an integral adjustment that you can access by removing the rod from the back of the drain and lifting the stopper out. Otherwise, do the same thing as in removing the stopper, but turn the drain plug 180 degrees and re assemble.
