The faucet in my utility sink had been doing this nothing where you would run either the hot or cold water and it would abruptly stop with almost like a thud sound. If I turned the knobs to off, I’d hear a similar thud, and then I could use the water again. This went on for about a month. Today, the faucet won’t produce any water when the hot and/or cold is turned on. Any thoughts on a repair before I just buy a new one?
Thank you in advance267435D6-908F-4BC8-A81A-A521DA1A2BD7.jpeg

Remove the aerator where the water exits the spout. Turn it clockwise.

Check flow.

if still no flow, remove the entire spout by loosening the retainer nut where the spout meets the faucet base.

There may be a diverter in there that’s not being used, you don’t have a side sprayer. .

Remove this diverter if it’s there. A clue would be you see white plastic looking into the faucet with the spout removed.

Thank you, I’ll give that a try. I do have a sprayer on left side- does that change any advice you have? Thanks again

I see it now hiding over there. The diverter is most likely your issue.

Remove the spout and look into the faucet and you’ll see the plastic diverter.

Remove it. Then you’ll need to replace it with a new one if you want the sprayer to divert the water from the spout 100%. Or you can leave it out and use the faucet as is.

Is there a name on the faucet any place ? It may be stamped into the metal below the spout on the deck plate.

You don’t have to turn the water valves off to remove the spout. So don’t.

Ok perfect. I’m going to try that tomorrow. I don’t need that sprayer so I try to just remove that diverter. I don’t see a name anywhere on the facet. It was here when we bought the house years ago and it may pretty old. Definitely not a luxury faucet.

I huge Allen wrench

Or anything wide enough to jam in there and then turn counterclockwise.

You might could make something to fit.

I’ve used needle nose pliers by inserting into the hex part and pulling them open to grab the inside where a wrench would fit. Then turn counterclockwise.

Worked like a charm!
I ended up buying the right size Allen wrench. That said the needle nosed pliers also came in handy with pulling the diverter out.
Faucet put back together, no leaks.
Thank you again
