Hello all. I have a home that has a large (toilet) rough in and sink rough in that’s installed in the basement. If one were to install a toilet and sink, how would the waste get from the drain up and out of the house? I can’t imagine that the installed drain is higher than the sewer pipes. Does one need a pump to remove the waste?

Thank you

If your sewer or septic exits the house above the basement floor, normally it’s obvious. You may see it in the mechanical room, or in an unfinished portion of the house somewhere.

When the house was built, if basement plumbing needed a pump, a catch basin an piping would of been roughed in as well.

If there’s no signs of any of that, it’s safe to say you’re tied into the sewer or septic just by gravity
