Any ideas what this pipe is?

Hello, hoping someone can help...Moved into a new place and this is on the wall in the bedroom. Don't think its gas line as it appears to be plastic. It was covered with one of those plastic wall covers. Curious as to what this is and if it could be a hazard? Thanks.

It looks like a painted over test cap. Old clean-out poorly plugged maybe?

Interesting. Any ideas why this would be in the bedroom? The unit is a cottage that could have been a garage originally. Bathroom is located near this cap.

Should I be concerned about any fumes or anything coming out of this? Thanks for the reply.

Just giving this post a bump. Any thoughts on why this would be on a bedroom walk or if it's a hazard? Thought I'd ask sine I got sick after moving into this new place...

It looks like a cleanout, is there a sink, toilet or any other type of drain on the other side of the wall? If the room used to be a garage it makes sense.

If it is a sewer cleanout and you are smelling fumes or just not liking it I would make sure you have a good cap on there that seals it up well.
