I have a shallow well with a jet pump on a property in Colorado. I cut off power and drained the pressure tank when I left in mid August but did not remove the plugs to drain the actual pump. I now know this was a total noob mistake made due to me being a total noob. I suspect this was a fatal mistake for the pump but, is there any chance the pump survives the cold Colorado winter?

When water changes to ice it expands. Cast iron has very little strength in tension, so assuming your pump is cast iron and assuming it was full of water when you left, I'm afraid it will likely be in pieces upon your return. ☹️

Thank you for the responses. Although I knew it was unlikely, I suppose I was hoping that perhaps since I drained the tank, the pump may have possibly drained some too over the last four months. I assumed there are valves that prevent that from happening but was hoping someone might give me some hope:rolleyes:. Thank you, again!
