Hello everyone! I'm new here, and extremely new to plumbing. I have what I thought was going to be a very easy project. I want to set up a utility sink in my basement. I was going to tap into my upstairs bathroom sink water and waste lines. My dad brought up an issue that I didn't know about. Since neither of us know the exact code requirements, I thought I would bring it here to make sure it gets done correctly.

The issue comes with venting. My plan was to put the sink in right next to my waste stack, and just attach it to the stack. My dad pointed out that it needs to be vented properly to avoid getting sewer gasses in the house.

I've attached a picture to show you my setup, and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ben

where are you located ? need to know what code your under

you need a vent...that tub drain,,,dos not look like it has any slope ''fall'' it looks flat

it also looks longer than it should be. seeinging your plumbing..i am guessing you are under he IPC code

I think you can use a auto vent..I personally do not like them, but if you are under IPC code they are legal.

I'm in St. Peters, MO. According to iccsafe.org, we use IPC. So I think I might use the auto vent. Are there any flood level restrictions with those?
