So I tied my washing machine drain into the 3" stack which is 5' away from the laundry hook up.

I used a T and put a cheater vent just after the trap.

Question:

Is this the proper way to use the cheater vent? All the pictures I have seen have the cheater vent on to of the T while the water drops vertically underneath it.

Please see photo.

I also used 1 1/2" instead of 2" is this a big deal?

Regards

I'm going to put an access panel. I spoke with a local plumber from my are who told me 1 1/2" should be ok that's what they are installing in houses here,

What is the downfall of 1 1/2"?

Ok thanks, yes I think I'm going to change the trap.

How come newer washer need a larger drain, I would think that they use less water. Or is it a pressure issue?
